Printer

computer printer, or more commonly just a printer, is a device that produces a hard copy (permanent human-readable text and/or graphics) of documents stored in electronic form, usually on physical print media such as paper or transparencies. Many printers are primarily used as computer peripherals, and are permanently attached to a computer which serves as a document source. Other printers, commonly known as network printer, have built-in network interfaces, and can serve as a hardcopy device for any user on the network. In addition, many modern printers can directly interface to electronic media such as memory sticks or memory cards, or to image capture devices such as digital cameras, scanners; some printers are combined with a scanners and/or fax machines in a single unit. A printer which is combined with a scanner can essentially function as a photocopier.
Printers are designed for low-volume, short-turnaround print jobs; requiring virtually no setup time to achieve a hard copy of a given document. However, printers are generally slow devices (10 pages per minute is considered fast; and many consumer printers are far slower than that), and the cost-per-page is relatively high, In contrast, the printing press, is designed and optimized for high-volume print jobs such as newspaper print runs-printing presses are capable of hundreds of pages per minute or more, and have an incremental cost-per-page which is a fraction of that of printers. However, as printers have improved in quality and performance, many jobs which used to be done by professional print shops are now done by users on local printers.

Document Printer

Document Printer (docPrint) is a Windows printer driver that saves ink, paper and time by controlling printed output, it supports print 2, 4, 6, 8 or 16 pages on a single sheet of paper, it also supports scale A3 paper to standard Letter or A4 paper sizes. Document Printer is also a Document Converter, it converts any printable document to 20+ graphics, it may be a Microsoft Word file, Adobe PDF file, HTML file, Excel file and others, Document Printer supports various image formats, resolutions and compressions. Document Printer is easy-to-use, just print a document to "docPrint", you will be able to start using Document Printer software.

Document Printer Features

1- Enhances your applications by expanding their output capabilities
2- Easily develop image management & archiving systems
3- Easy installation: driver installs in 2-3 seconds
4- It works with all printers and Windows applications
5- Resolutions: Selectable image resolution to 72,75,96,100,120,150,200,300,600, 1200DPI

7- Multiple Pages on One Sheet: Print 2, 4, 8 or 16 pages on a single sheet of paper
8- Watermarks Headers and Footers: Watermark, header and footer option allows documents to be marked with specific text
9- Watermark Transparence: The watermark with an optional transparent degree will not cover other pictures or photographs in the page
10- Combine Print Jobs: Allows multiple documents to be combined together as a single print job, This is useful for creating booklets based on web pages, etc
11- Paper Scaling: Allows large pages to be scaled to eliminate web page truncation, it supports scale A3 paper to A4 or letter or other standard paper size
12- Print Preview: Universal print preview with editing capability, Easily add blank pages, delete pages, and re-sequence jobs
13- Clipboard Support: Any printed output can be copied to the clipboard in bitmap format
14- Save Paper: Print a 'rough' copy of a document wasting neither ink nor paper
15- Document Conversion: Convert PDF, XLS, DOC, RTF, HTML, CAD etc. documents into TIFF, JPEG images as well as other image file formats
16- Ease of Use: The program installs in the system a virtual printer enabling you to convert documents to graphics by simply "printing" them
17- Multipage Image Support: Create multipage image files in GIF, TIFF, DCX, MNG, PDF formats
18- Coloring: Print your documents colored including grayscale or black-and-white ones
19- Create TIFF Files: Create industry standard TIFF files from any Windows software, for example, TIFF format with CCITT FAX4 compression
20- Convert 400+ formats to high quality PDF, PS (Postscript) and EPS formats
21- Show Information: Display the total number of pages and page information on Preview window
22- Manual margin setting: Page margin can be set side by side and the content can be automatically enlarged depending on margin
23- Rotate page 90,180,270 degree: It can be very useful function when documents made by different applications are merged
24- Page order change: Rearrange page order in the page queue

Commercial Printer

A commercial printer is a printing company that prints a file using one of a variety of methods, often involving a printing press. The printing method to be used affects how the digital file must be prepared. Commercial printers usually require very specific file preparation or prepress tasks. It's man vs. machine when comparing a commercial printer with a desktop printer. The commercial printer is actually a business and its owner and/or employees who are printing professionals. A print shop may have printers (machines) for digital printing but they also usually have web or sheet presses for offset lithography and other commercial printing processes.

Other terms used for a commercial printer are print shop, offset printer, quick printer (places such as Kinko's) or service bureau -- technically different but a printer and a service bureau may sometimes provide similiar services. The term "service provider" may be used to mean either your service bureau or print shop.

Laser Printer

A laser printer is a common type of computer printer that rapidly produces high quality text and graphics on plain paper. Like photocopiers, laser printers employ a xerographic printing process but differ from analog photocopiers in that the image is produced by the direct scanning of a laser beam across the printer's photoreceptor.

Color Laser Printer

A color laser printer is commonly used to produce hard copies of very high quality images. Images are produced by using a laser beam to create an electronically charged copy on a selenium-coated drum. The drum is then rolled in the toner reservoir so that the toner adheres to the charged image. With heat and pressure, the toner on the drum is transferred to the paper and a hard copy is produced.

Inkjet Printer

Inkjet printers are a type of computer printer that operates by propelling tiny droplets of liquid ink onto paper. They are the most common type of computer printer for the general consumer due to their low cost, high quality of output, capability of printing in vivid color, and ease of use.

In the personal and small business computer market, inkjet printers currently predominate. Inkjets are usually inexpensive, quiet, reasonably fast, and many models can produce high quality output. Like most modern technologies, the present-day inkjet has built on the progress made by many earlier versions. Among many contributors, Epson, Hewlett-Packard and Canon can claim a substantial share of credit for the development of the modern inkjet. In the worldwide consumer market, four manufacturers account for the majority of inkjet printer sales: Canon, Hewlett-Packard, Epson, and Lexmark.

Inkjet printers use one of three main technologies: thermal, piezoelectric, and continuous.

Barcode Printer

A barcode printer (or bar code printer) is a computer peripheral for printing barcode labels or tags that can be attached to physical objects. Barcode printers are commonly used to label cartons before shipment, or to label retail items with UPCs or EANs.

The most common barcode printers employ one of two different printing technologies. Direct thermal printers use a printhead to generate heat that causes a chemical reaction in specially designed paper that turns the paper black. Thermal transfer printers also use heat, but instead of reacting the paper, the heat melts a waxy or resin substance on a ribbon that runs over the label or tag material. The heat transfers ink from the ribbon to the paper. Direct thermal printers are generally less expensive, but they produce labels that can become illegible if exposed to heat, direct sunlight, or chemical vapors.

Barcode printers are designed for different markets. Industrial barcode printers are used in large warehouses and manufacturing facilities. They have large paper capacities, operate faster and have a longer service life. For retail and office environments, desktop barcode printers are most common.
